Tourest 2016

We would like to thank all exhibitors, visitors and partners, who made the 25th international travel trade fair TOUREST 2016 so successful!

It is a pleasure to inform you that the fair was visited by 25 293 people, who had the great possibility to familiarize with 521 exhibitors from 22 countries. For the first time, India, Kyrgyzstan and Tanzania were represented at Tourest. In addition to the new destinations, countries like Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, Croatia, Estonia, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Latvia, The Seychelles, Finland, United Kingdom, Thailand, Turkey, Russia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Ethiopia were represented.

The 25th international travel trade fair Tourest 2016 was opened by Estonian Minister of Enterprise Ms. Liisa Oviir. At the opening ceremony, the Best Tourism Promoter and the Best Tourism Establishment of 2015 were announced. The winners were Mr. Peter Hunt and Saaremaa Opera Festival. Other nominees were Sokos Hotel Estoria book “There are over 100 exciting, quirky, unique and important reasons to visit Estonia”, Estonian Open Air Museum and Shipping Society Sunlines - ships Kajsamoor and Katharina. In addition to the annual awards, the ecotourism quality mark of Estonian tourism products EHE was handed over to 15 companies by NPO Estonian Rural Tourism.

Tourest 2016 took place in 3 halls. In the main hall there were represented foreign destinations, tour operators, travel agencies, air, land and sea transportation, insurance companies, hotels, spas, leisure companies, etc. and also Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Consumer Protection Board. In addition, Estonian Travel and Tourism Association was also represented with a separate stand. In “Holidays in Estonia” hall, Estonian spas and all Estonian tourism regions were represented to give an overview of what Estonia has to offer as a destination. For our little tourism fans, there was a Kids area opened in a separate children hall to offer them different fun activities during 2 days. Lunch and eating possibilities were organized by different cafes.

Seminar program. On Friday (12.02) a conference on a subject of cultural tourism took place, which was opened by Director of Estonian Tourist Board Mr. Tarmo Mutso. Belarus National Tourism Agency organized a presentation about the tourism opportunities of the Republic of Belarus. On Saturday (13.02) all Japanese culture fans could participate in Shodo Workshops.

The main stage was situated in “Holidays in Estonia” hall, where many dance and music performances, fun games, interesting quizzes, exciting experiments and competitions took place.

At the closing ceremony, visitors’ favourite exhibition stands were pronounced -  Tallink’s stand was the favourite stand in the main hall and Ida-Virumaa county’s stand was the favourite stand in “Holidays in Estonia” hall. In addition, the winner of Tourest 2016 holiday campaign’s main prize (return tickets for 2 persons by Nordic Aviation Group) was announced.
