Tourest 2015

We would like to thank all exhibitors, visitors and partners, who made the 24th international travel trade fair TOUREST 2015 so successful!

It is a pleasure to inform you that the fair was visited by 30 464 people, who had the great possibility to familiarize with 478 exhibitors from 22 countries. For the first time, the Philippines, Malaysia and Ethiopia were represented at Tourest. In addition to the new destinations, countries like Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, Estonia, Finland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, the Seychelles, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and USA were represented.

The 24th international travel trade fair Tourest 2015 was opened by Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Ms. Urve Palo. At the opening ceremony, the Best Tourism Promoter and the Best Tourism Establishment of 2014 were announced. The winners were Mr. Tarmo Mutso (Director of Estonian Tourist Board) and Lotte Village. Other nominees were Balloon Tallinn and Luscher & Matthiesen wine museum. In addition to the annual awards, the ecotourism quality mark of Estonian tourism products EHE was handed over to 15 companies by NPO Estonian Rural Tourism.

Tourest 2015 took place in 3 halls. In the main hall there were represented foreign destinations, Estonian and foreign tour operators, travel agencies, air, land and sea transportation, insurance companies, hotels, spas, leisure companies, etc. and also Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Consumer Protection Board. In addition, Estonian Travel and Tourism Association which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, was also represented with a separate stand. In “Holidays in Estonia” hall, Estonian spas and all Estonian tourism regions were represented to give an overview of what Estonia has to offer as a destination. For our little tourism fans, there was a Lotte Village Kids area opened in a separate children hall to offer them different fun activities during all 3 days. Lunch and eating possibilities were organized in a new way in co-operation with Tallinn Street Food Fest.

Seminar program was quite diverse. On Friday (13.02) a conference on a subject of cultural tourism took place, which was opened by Estonian Minister of Culture Ms. Urve Tiidus. For tourism professionals, who are interested in China, a seminar took place by China Central and Eastern European Countries Tourism Coordination Centre, who introduced the activities and events in 2015. As every year, Estravel organized a seminar for its business clients and Belarus National Tourism Agency organized a presentation about the tourism opportunities of the Republic of Belarus. All people who were interested in car rental had the possibility to listen to the Avis Budget Estonia seminars. A company United Skills introduced the digital marketing possibilities to tourism companies. On Saturday (14.02) people had the possibility to listen to the interesting stories of the guides of Germalo Reisid and on Sunday (15.02) all Japanese culture fans could participate in Shodo Workshops.

The main stage was situated in “Holidays in Estonia” hall, where many dance and music performances, fun games, interesting quizzes, exciting experiments and competitions took place. People could also participate in the auctions starting from 1 €, where it was possible to buy accommodation packages, caravan rents or even travel packages to Turkey.

At the closing ceremony, visitors’ favourite exhibition stands were pronounced by Turismiweb. Go Travel’s stand was the favourite stand in the main hall and Hiiumaa county’s stand was the favourite stand in “Holidays in Estonia” hall. In addition, the winner of Tourest 2015 holiday campaign’s main prize (two-way tickets for 2 persons by Estonian Air) was announced.
