The 23rd international travel trade fair Tourest was opened by Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications – Mr Juhan Parts. At the opening ceremony, the Best Tourism Promoter and the Best Tourism Establishment of 2013 were announced. The winners were Erik Sakkov (Member of the Board of Tallinn Airport) and Kiviõli Adventure Centre. Other nominees were Marika Toomel (development of Loona manor) and Mooste manor.

Tourest was held in 3 halls. In the main hall there were represented foreign destinations, tour operators, travel agencies, transportation and insurance companies, educational institutions, hotels, spas, restaurants, entertainment and leisure companies and also Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Consumer Protection Board. In "Holidays in Estonia" hall, Estonian tourism regions were represented to give an overview of what Estonia has to offer as a destination. For our little tourism fans, there was a children hall opened on Saturday and Sunday to offer them variable fun and educative activities – it was possible to have fun with the mascots, watch theatre performances, make/handcraft several things, draw, compete and play. For the first time, also a market area was added to the same hall, where Estonian traders offered food and useful things for sale – beginning from travel books and suitcases and ending with local cheese products.

Seminar program began already on Thursday, when pre-conference „Tempting visitor from Russia: 100 ideas“ by Marketingi Istituut took place. On Friday, Estravel spoke about Bleisure, Dream Voyage introduced Princess Cruises, South-Estonia officially opened the cultural and historical route „Living on the edge“ and Japan (Sushimon) told about travelling tips, Japanese food and less-knows regions. On Saturday, YFU Estonia introduced the opportunities for international student exchange, Germalo Reisid introduced their exotic trips, Japan (Sushimon) spoke about the etiquette, (Animatsuri) introduced Japan Anime and more active ones also had the possibility to try it by themselves. On Sunday, YFU Estonia introduced the opportunities for international student exchange to those who didn’t manage to come to listen on Saturday, Sushimon spoke about Japan society and The Embassy of Japan organized two calligraphy workshops.

On the main stage, it was possible to view many performances: for example a dance performance by Mulgimaa, Egypt’s Tanoura dance show and Indonesia’ Saman, Puska Mekar and Serampang Dua Belas dances were just few of them. It was also possible to take part of the auctions beginning from 1 euro, quizes, games and competitions, cheer for the real Vikings’ battle or the Sumo demonstration and many more!

At the ending ceremony, People’s Favourite Exhibition Stands were pronounced by Turismiweb: in the main hall the winner was Estravel and in „Holidays in Estonia“ hall the winner was Pärnumaa. In addition, the winner of Tourest 2014 visitor campaign’s main prize (two-way tickets by Estonian Air) was picked.
